In honor of election week, we'll be taking this week to explore questions surrounding our political identities. What does it mean to participate in politics? What role should American residents and citizens play in political life? How does our electoral system work? How can it be improved? Who should have the right to vote? Should voting be mandatory? These are just some of the questions we will grapple with as we investigate our democratic electoral system. For this week, we will have one assignment due during our second class of the week (for Pod A, that's 11/5; for Pods B&C, that's 11/6). You will find one source related to the topics we will discuss on 11/3 - 11/4 and complete a set of research reading notes to prepare to participate in a Socratic seminar discussion on 11/5 - 11/6. This week, we are working to workshop, revise, and polish our autobiographical snapshots. We will also become acquainted with StoryCorps and start thinking about how to tell and capture stories through dialogical interviews. Finally, you have a new reading project in preparation for a Socratic seminar next week on what it means to do history.
